The popular raft race will be one of the big attractions and chefs from more than a dozen local restaurants will line the quayside offering samples of fish dishes to locals and tourists.
There will also be lifeguards and
the RNLI’s lifeboat simulator where people can experience life as a crew member on the Tamar lifeboat.
All money raised for the RNLI over the weekend will go to the £31,000 appeal for a new D Class inshore lifeboat for Looe.
The lifeboat will be named after teenager Ollie Naismith, who died in a collision on the A38 in December last year.
Celebration of steam
Steam will be returning to the Looe Valley Line, which has seen an increase in users since the beginning of 2009, at the end of the summer.
Passenger numbers on the train that runs from Liskeard to Looe for 2009 was 17.4 per cent up on 2008 and so far in 2010 usage is up by 4.9 per cent on 2009.
Plans for the 150th anniversary of Looe’s railway are already under way with the main
celebrations taking place on Saturday, September 11, and on September 19 and 26 steam will be returning to the line.
It is hoped that two GWR Pannier Tank engines will run up to four trips on each of the two Sundays hauling four carriages.
Students from Plymouth have already been involved with painting the station building at Looe, and clearing and planting the bank at Sandplace Station.
