ECB National Cricket Centre uses the
THE England & Wales Cricket Board have selected the Climate Cover System by Total Turf Solutions Ltd as their preferred covering system for the National Cricket Centre, Loughborough University. “Following great feedback from the county Head Groundsmen who have been using the system, the product seemed perfect for the net area. The new natural nets at Loughborough University have been built on what was three artificial tennis courts and therefore space is tight. The Climate Cover System provides a lightweight flat sheet waterproof cover, which allows the surfaces to be prepared to the highest standard.
The covers are light enough that one member of staff can use them safely, keeping labour costs to a minimum and making preparation of the surfaces easier.
The use of raised mobile covers on the practice area would have been very difficult but with the breathable qualities to diminish the problem of ‘sweating’ and the fact that the covers allow sunlight to reach the grass plant, raised

mobile covers were not needed. Chris Wood. ECB Pitches Consultant,
said “My brief from the ECB at the outset of the concept of the National Cricket Centre was quite simply to design ‘the best outdoor net practice facility in the country’ to complement the construction of the most advanced indoor cricket school in the world on the adjacent ground.”
