HERE we go again-as soon as the football season finishes, the concert season starts! Following 6 corporate games and an all day 7-a-side tournament, the first phase of renovation work was carried out in mid May. We raked the pitch ourselves with a Sisis grass rake in four directions, removing the debris with our Parker trailed sweeper, this thinned out the sward considerably along with the games and the reduced height of cut-16mm. We then had the pitch scarified heavily with the Koro, removing far more vegetation than in previous years, which can only be a good thing. This work was carried out by the contractor, Mallinsons. After two passes were completed, followed by two further passes with the rake, the pitch was cleaned up with the TM5 powered sweeper. Once Mallinsons had finished, we renovated the verges ourselves using different Barenbrug seed mixtures which we are currently

trialling - no seeding was carried out on the pitch itself due to the impending concert schedule. Last year’s concerts brought

problems with debris falling off the flooring and into the pitch during the removal of the Rolatrac and Supatrac. This year, to combat the problem, the club invested a five figure sum and bought us our own set of Tildenet germination/frost sheets to go under the flooring and act as a secondary pitch cover.

These sheets will also double up in the

winter for use as frost covers on the reserve pitch next door.
