whole would participate in Relay for Life in 2011. “Community, tradition, and a spirit of giving like none before you—that’s what makes this class so special,” Bass lauded to the class. “Yes, academics and athletics are important, and certainly, you all have distinguished yourself in the classroom and on the playing field. Academic Awards Night and the annual athletic banquet certainly give testimony to that proud tradition as more than half of the class standing before us this evening received an award, a commendation, or was an integral member of the various teams and organizations represented.” He urged them to remember their accomplishments and to carry that energy into the future, where more challenges awaited each of them. “You will forever be remembered as the Class that Cares for all that you have done on behalf of your community … Congratulations and best of luck, Class of 2010.” Class valedictorian and class salutatorians are designated based on their academic standing

within the class. This year, Jordyn Oriole earned Valedictorian, and there was a dead-heat for Salutatorian with Karima Brahim and Christine Morgan jointly earning this honor. As always, the happy honor of announcing the many scholarships earned by this graduating class fell to Kathryn Sheridan, Head of Guidance. David Peach won a $150,000 scholarship to Virginia Military Institute, and many others earned scholarship dollars that will help defray the cost of future education.
Although it had taken four long years to get from freshmen to graduating seniors, in some ways, it seemed all too soon when School Board Chairman Rob Hardy presented diplomas to each of the new graduates.
Challenges had been met, academics mastered, relationships formed, and memories created— now marks the time for this new crop of graduates to begin their next adventures.
Between speeches, the graduates celebrated in style with beach balls and silly string Salutatorians Karima Brahim and Christine Morgan Valedictorian Jordyn Oriole
