Self-levelling flooring screeds
B J Kenny Truckmix, based in Bridgwater, Somerset, has been operating for more than 25 years. The business supplies quality assured ready-mixed concrete to the construction industry and for private works in Bridgwater and the surrounding areas. B J Kenny offers concrete pumping straight off the boom with up to 28 metres’ reach. The pumping system is ideal for going over obstacles, houses, walls etc or where labour is short. Meanwhile, Truckmix is a
flowing floor screed based on alpha hemihydrate calcium sulphate. It is ready to use and presents advantages over traditional screeds. It is far less labour intensive and up to ten times the area may be laid with one gang of men as compared with alternative semi- dry screeds. In contrast to many traditional screeds, shrinkage and curling is most unlikely to occur - any that does will be minimal. Truckmix may be laid at a lesser thickness than conventional semi-dry screeds. It can be used in all dry locations and applications where traditional screeds are laid and it provides an excellent surface finish. Truckmix provides excellent resistance to impact and readily surpasses the requirements of the most exhaustive BRE test for category A floors.
Where underfloor heating is used, it comes into its own.
Truckmix presents many advantages.
Because the screed is wet, it surrounds the heating pipes leaving no voids. This gives a much better efficiency to the heating system. Truckmix, which is pumped in through hoses, also helps you avoid the risk of piercing pipes, a problem that can arise where dry screeds have to be wheelbarrowed across the pipes. Truckmix is manufactured at a specialist production unit. The addition and mixing of all constituent materials is carried out under precisely controlled conditions to ensure complete dispersion of the mix components prior to discharge into the delivery vehicle.
