The best of Time Off in Hampshire
Here’s our very personal choice of five of the best events worth a trip out to see in Hampshire over the next few weeks.
1. SOCIETY OF FLORAL PAINTERS EXHIBITION Mottisfont Abbey, Romsey 27th May – 30th June
There will be in the region of 300 pictures on display, showing a wide diversity of style and media, ranging from dramatic contemporary to exquisitely executed botanical studies. Folios, hand- painted original cards and printed cards will be available.The Society of Floral Painters was founded in 1996 and is today a flourishing and dynamic group of amateur and professional artists.
2. MIDHURST & DISTRICT GARDEN CLUB Saturday and Sunday, 12th and 13th of June EAST MEON GARDEN CLUB Open gardens – 13th June
Take your pick from two sets of gardens which will be open in Midhurst and East Meon. There’s even time to take in them both. Midhurst gardens open from 10am to 5pm. At East Meon its

3. SUMMER SHOW Wokingham Horticultural Association, Reading Road – 26th June
The lively Wokingham association again sets its stalls out for a summer show open to visitors with teas and plants on sale in
a friendly atmosphere. Details on 0118 978 4629.
Time Off
4. ROYAL BATH & WEST SHOWGROUND 2nd to 5th June
Ok it’s not a Hampshire event but it’s a classic royal show and worth the trip. The Royal
Bath & West Show at Shepton Mallet is a great day out this June. From the country’s finest livestock, over 600 trade stands, the National Cheese Awards to the UK’s biggest cider competition, there really is something for everyone - family or food lover. New to the show is Ladies Day, on Thursday 3rd June. Fashion-conscious visitors will stand a chance to be crowned winner of the best hat competition or best dressed lady and walk away with a mystery VIP prize 9am – 6pm.

5. ALTON SHOW Froyle Park, Upper Froyle, Alton Sunday 4th July
The Alton Show has a simple aim – to promote the countryside. It is organised
by the North East Hants Agricultural Association, and held at Froyle Park, Upper Froyle, Alton. Eight thousand people flock to this traditional one day agricultural show which has something to please people of all ages. There’s plenty here for the gardener and good quality horse show and dog shows.
