1. SOW IT, GROW IT, BBQ IT Stewarts Garden Lands, Christchurch & Country , Garden Centre, Broomhill, nr Wimborne – Saturday and Sunday 5th and 6th June


You’ve grown some fresh veggies, fruit and perhaps some herbs, now get some tips from the experts at Stewarts on how to BBQ them with your meat or fish.

2. FLOWER FESTIVAL ‘The butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker…’ 13th – 17th June. Owermoigne Flower Club, Ahelhampton House, Puddletown, nr Dorchester


Owermoigne Flower Club are a very active club with a membership of around 60 people drawn from the local villages and towns. The club


celebrated its 30th anniversary last year having been formed as an offshoot of the Owermoigne Horticultural Society.


Its


flower festival is the highlight of the year and runs from 10am – 5pm. New members and visitors can be assured of a warm welcome. Details on 01305 848363.


3. A WEEKEND OF EXPLORATION OF HERBS & WILD & MEDICINAL PLANTS Monkton Wyld Court, nr Charmouth 25th-27th June


A practical weekend led by experienced herbalist Juliet


Fishbourne whose interest is the healing power of plants and their resonance in living systems. The course looks suitable for those with knowledge and those who would like to investigate the subject. The grounds and surrounding countryside at Monkton Wyld will be a valuable resource. £215 residential, £145 non-residential. 4. MERE GARDEN CLUB OPEN GARDENS WEEKEND Art & flower exhibition. 12noon – 4pm 26th/27th June


Only just qualifies for Dorset as Mere sits on the border with Wiltshire but the opens gardens weekend is one of the


highlights for local gardeners and there’s always some great gardens to wander round and enjoy.

5. ROYAL BATH & WEST SHOWGROUND 2nd to 5th June


Ok it’s not a Dorset event but it’s a classic royal show and worth the trip. The Royal Bath & West Show at Shepton Mallet is a great day out this June. From the country’s


finest livestock, over 600 trade stands, the National Cheese Awards to the UK’s biggest cider competition, there really is something for everyone - family or food lover. New to the show is Ladies Day, on Thursday 3rd June. Fashion-conscious visitors will stand a chance to be crowned winner of the best hat competition or best dressed lady and walk away with a mystery VIP prize 9am – 6pm.
