customized international program that meets their group’s specific learning objectives. Program costs are covered by the Canadian partner. Educators use these programs to complement classroom-based learning with hands-on experiences. CWY works with their overseas partner organizations to develop itineraries that support the various groups’ interests and objectives. Participants develop an understanding of the local context through living with a host family and participating in community-driven volunteer projects. Interested groups or individuals in Canada can contact CWY directly. CWY works in partnership with up to 60 groups in Canada each year.
Our Resources CWY produces promotional materials including pamphlets, postcards, posters, videos, and power-point presentations, and can provide speakers and workshop facilitators on a wide range of issues. In 2006, we also undertook an ambitious process of self-evaluation to determine the impact of our programs on participants and society as a whole. The conclusions of this study speak volumes: through its innovative model based on non-formal education, the CWY program has a profound long-lasting impact on the participants and members of the host communities.
