Canada World Youth

CANADA WORLD YOUTH (CWY) aims to prepare a new generation of global citizens through its international educational programs for young people aged 17 to 24. Since 1971, close to 30,000 people from Canada and around the world have participated in CWY programs in 67 countries. We are funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) as well as by individual and institutional donors.

Our Vision Canada World Youth envisions a world of active, engaged global citizens who share responsibility for the well-being of all people and the planet.

Our Mission Canada World Youth's mission is to increase the ability of people, and especially youth, to participate actively in the development of just, harmonious, and sustainable societies.

Each team is supervised by trained staff from CWY and from the partner country (we partner with countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe and Latin America).

Participants have an opportunity to enjoy a fulfilling international experience, discover other cultures and contribute to the well-being of their community.

There are approximately 600 spaces available on this program each year, and all Canadian and landed immigrant youth between 17 and 24 years of age are eligible to apply. To date, close to 30,000 young people have participated in CWY programs.

CWY’s Global Learner Programs enable groups of young people to experience life in another country for a shorter period, usually 2 weeks to 3 months, with an international phase only. On these programs CWY works with a Canadian partner, typically a high school, college, university or youth group, to develop a
