Physicians for Global Survival
Since its founding in 1980, PHYSICIANS FOR GLOBAL SURVIVAL has been a leader in the global federation, International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, in its efforts to reduce the nuclear arms race. The threat of nuclear war is still very real, and continues to be the predominant focus of our work, but PGS has also played an important role in many initiatives to advance the cause of peace and health for people around the world. The objective to encompass more than just the nuclear issue is the reason for the change of name in 1994, from the Canadian Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War to Physicians for Global Survival.
Our Mission Because of our concern for global health, we are committed to the abolition of nuclear weapons, the prevention of war, the promotion of nonviolent conflict resolution and social justice in a sustainable world.
