Horizons of Friendship has completed hundreds of successful self-help community development projects including health services, clean water, food production, education, skills training, low-cost housing, community organization and advocacy initiatives. These endeavours have given entire communities the potential for self-sufficiency through training and income-generating opportunities. To date, Horizons of Friendship has raised over $65 million for development projects in Mesoamerica. This amount includes matching grants from the Canadian Government through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
