On board since late spring, Chef Rose says his dishes are inspired by his childhood, growing up in Southern California, Italian heritage and love of French cuisine. Mahi Mahi with shrimp, polenta, squash and lobster sauce, and, new this month, ribs with blueberry glaze are a few of his creations.


“The duck is unbelievable,” says Washburn. “People who have never tried duck before fall in love with it.” Easy on the budget is the fixed price menu offering choices of appetizers, entrées and desserts for $28. The regular menu features appetizers such as fried oysters or the coffee-spiced hanger steak with fingerling potatoes from $6 to $13; salads $7 to $15 for the Asian Ahi tuna; and entrees from $12 to $27 including hefty Fat Cat burgers, flat bread pizzas and smoked pork chops.

Fat Cat’s fun side ignites at the July 10 Hell Night. Extra spicy dishes and fiery cocktails will light up the menu. Any patron who can finish a plate of the chef’s pasta du jour receives an “I survived Fat Cat’s Hell Night” T-shirt. Reflecting the restaurant’s amusing and upscale personality is Tuesday Nickel Night when patrons enjoy a second cocktail or glass of wine for five cents.


Happy hour is 4 to 7 p.m. daily with the addition of a reverse happy hour from 9 p.m. until the last diner leaves on Friday and Saturday nights. Happy hour offers drink specials, $2 off appetizers and $5 glasses of the house wine, which currently is Sean Minor Four Bears.
