www.SanTanSun.com Christmas in July helps animals

To raise money for Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (MCACC), Kokopelli Winery & Bistro celebrates Christmas in July.

When patrons mention MCACC between July 12 and 16, Kokopelli donates a percentage of their tab to help area animals.

Kokopelli’s special Christmas in July menu items include “Santa Paws Special,” a blend of shrimp and crab cakes with rémoulade sauce; “Miracle on Boston Street,” cream cheese and feta nestled in a bed of marinara, served with rosemary focaccia; “12k Christmas Pasta,” sautéed diced chicken breast or shrimp blended with red and green peppers in an Alfredo sauce tossed with penne noodles and topped with pecorino Romano and provolone; “It’s a Wonderful Life Salmon Chauvin,” fresh Pacific salmon seasoned and pan seared, and topped with a light, spicy sauce with sautéed spinach and garlic, and served with an asparagus vegetable medley and wild rice; baked Alaska; and a variety of frozen drink favorites. Kokopelli Winery and Bistro is located at 35 W. Boston St. in downtown Chandler. For more information, visit www.kokopelliwinery.net or call 480-792-6927.

11 Light-box submission deadline looms

July 1 is the deadline to submit images to the Chandler Arts Commission for a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Light-Box project. The light-boxes will be placed at about a dozen bus stations along Arizona Avenue from downtown to the light-rail line in Mesa.

The project includes nine double-sided light boxes that are 30 inches tall by 40 inches wide and backlit from the interior. All artworks will be reproduced from digital imagery of originals.

The art submitted should promote the importance of arts advocacy in the community and schools, and “provide hope and inspiration for the future of art as an integral part of everyday surroundings.”

Artists are asked to submit a CD-Rom or DVD of up to six digital images no larger than 8 inches by 10 inches at 200 dpi, an artist’s statement’ curriculum vitae or previous exhibition history and a self-addressed, stamped envelope for return of materials.

Send submissions to Chandler Arts Commission, c/o Vision Gallery, 80 S. San Marcos Pl., Chandler.
