Graduation 2010 10th Annual Make-A-Wish Dinner Stafford and Caswell families
By Robyn Hatch The 10th Annual Make-A-Wish Dinner and Evening of Entertainment, sponsored by the Salem High School Key Club, at Salem High School Davis Gymnasium, took place to a sold-out crowd. Three Make-A-Wish families, the Stafford, Caswell, and Hazelton families, were present to share their recent adventures with Make-A-Wish. This organization helped make dreams come true for these families who might not have been able to bring such big smiles to these little faces otherwise.

through its wish-granting work. The Foundation’s mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors, and entire communities. The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded in 1980 after a little boy named Chris Greicius realized his heartfelt wish to become a police officer. Since its humble beginnings, the organization has blossomed into a worldwide phenomenon, reaching more than 110,000 children worldwide. Although it has become one of the world’s most well known charities, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has
maintained the grassroots fulfillment of its mission. A network of more than 25,000 volunteers enables the Make-A-Wish Foundation to serve children with life- threatening medical conditions. Volunteers serve as wish granters, fundraisers, special events assistants, and in numerous other capacities. As the Foundation continues to mature, its mission will remain steadfast. Wish children of the past, present, and future will have an opportunity to share the power of a wish!
Senior Safe Night Creates Lasting Memories

Once again, the Salem Youth Committee presented Senior Safe Night, which provides a
night for the seniors to really have fun at before graduation. The kids started out by getting their yearbooks and looking and laughing at all the funny pictures of themselves, and then asking other people to sign them and maybe put secret messages and thoughts in them to keep forever. The kids then look at a well put-together Video Yearbook in the auditorium. Final Lock-In for the night happens at 10 p.m. Sandwiches were available for most of the night in the cafeteria. The next couple of hours were crazy times, with Good Time DJ George Whitehouse playing the

night away until 3:30 in the morning, and a large, inflatable “Human Foosball” making its way to where the students had the most fun dancing. The Video Yearbook was re-run for viewing at 10:30 p.m. A scavenger hunt took place in the lobby, and at 1:30 a.m., ice cream sandwiches were available in the cafeteria. Later in the night, Marko with his magic tricks roamed the school, ending up in the auditorium for hypnosis time with who ever wants to participate. Breakfast started at 4:45 a.m. with Gift Envelopes. The night ended with Raffles, including a raffle for a reconditioned car.

Also receiving scholarships, but not pictured: Lauren Burnett, Jill Kublbeck, Samuel Fazioli, and Lexi Deschene.

At 6 a.m., the students left for home, only to return soon for graduation practice. This event marks the last time together for many—a time to never forget.
