Zip Trip Team from FOX News Visits Salem submitted by Sonny Tylus

Psychic Fair Brings Something Different

by Robyn Hatch The American Legion Ernest W. Young Post 63, 38 Millville Street, Salem, held their first Psychic Fair to raise money. With psychic readings, angel card readings, Reiki healing sessions, Aura Chakra photo imaging, gong table readings, and soy candles and jewelry for sale, the crowds kept coming to experience something truly different.

Homemade cookies and drinks were also

available, and a flea market took place outside next to the building for those who liked to rummage through stuff at reasonable prices.

Representing the Colosseum Restaurant were Marco Purcello; Mike, Annibale, and Nick Todesca; and Salvatore Fina Recently, FOX News visited Salem as part of their Zip Trip, which picks a different city or town to visit

on Friday mornings. The crew spent three hours at the town common and spotlighted many businesses, groups, and organizations, such as Canobie Lake Park with Chris Nicoli, Daddy’s Junky Music Stores, the Woodbury Middle School Chorus, and many more. They also featured several local restaurants, including the Green Barn, Maddie’s, and the Colosseum

Restaurant. Annibale Todesca even showed the audiences his Gold Plate that he won in 2000 as the best Italian Restaurant in the world. Frank also talked to the owner of Chatila’s Bakery about his sugar- and gluten-free bakery items. The Pie Guy’s pies were a big hit with Kim Carrigan. Her favorite was the Banana Cream. Dunkin’ Donuts was passing out coffee all morning, and was a big hit with the firemen. Dick O’Shaughnessy and his gang of locals played the trivia game with VB, in which he was asked 10 questions regarding Salem’s history. He did pretty well until he had to sing. One segment had Frank Mallicoat, a FOX anchor and Salem resident, doing a tour of Arlington Pond,

where he lives. He was joined by long-time residents Howie Glynn, Sr., Ron “Oldie” Olderman, and Howie Glynn, Jr. He talked about how the pond has changed over the years with the buildup of homes. The tour didn’t end well for Frank, as he fell of the boat and ended up taking a swim. Another segment featured Jim Desardins of Daisy Cleaners. He talked about how he cleans the flags for the coffins of veterans for their funerals, as well all the bunting hanging in the common for free.
