Litchfield Dog Owners to Get a Surprise

by Lynne Ober

One of the items eliminated from the Litchfield Town Budget was the money to send registration reminder letters to dog owners. Dogs must be registered. This year, Litchfield Town Clerk Theresa Briand called everyone on her list of dog owners and reminded them that it was time to re-register their pet, but she still had a long list of unregistered dogs. Briand provided the 18-page list of unregistered dogs at a selectmen’s meeting and asked for guidance. Selectmen discussed the lack of funding for the reminder letters before telling Briand to give the list to the Dog Officer. Board of Selectmen Chairman Frank Byron moved that the Board of Selectmen hereby direct Chief J. O’Brion to file Civil Forfeiture against the owners of the dogs who have not registered their animal for 2010. Selectman John Brunelle seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Dog owners who wish to avoid a legal issue should register their dogs immediately.

8 Regan Teberge holds her nine and a half-inch braids

submitted by Sharron Theberge Regan Theberge, 7, of Litchfield grew her hair for a year in

preparation of her April donation to Children With Hairloss in South Rockwood, MI. She was inspired by a kindergarten classmate and set out to grow the minimum of eight inches. After careful braiding and cutting, the length of donation equaled nine and a half inches! Regan is very excited to have been able to help children struggling with illnesses. She loves sporting her new style for a good cause.

Lakes Association Awards Payroll Grant to Hudson

by Doug Robinson The New Hampshire Lakes Association awarded Hudson a $1,500

Payroll Grant that will be used to staff the boat ramps at Robinson and Ottarnic Ponds for the coming months. In addition, the New Hampshire Lakes Association will provide the staff members with two complimentary “complete sets of uniforms and materials.” “This grant award [will have] a budgeted match from the Town of Hudson Conservation Commission of $3,000,” stated Steve Malizia, Town of Hudson Administrator. The object of the program is to “educate boaters at Robinson Pond regarding the exotic aquatic infestation at the pond and to help prevent the spread of these species both into Robinson Pond and to other water bodies.”

Clean-up at Greeley Park

Being a Hudson resident, I try to utilize all that it supplies. We go to Hudson team softball/baseball games; enjoy the parade; go to all the town parks, including Robin Pond and Benson Park; and we also use the playgrounds. We use the town playgrounds two to five times a week, and my three kids love them all for different reasons. We go to Greeley Park most.

As most parents try to do what’s best for their kids, I’m always

telling them, “Hey, stop; don’t touch, put that down, that’s trash, leave that alone.” Coming to Greeley Park for the past six weeks, I tell them “don’t touch” or “put that down” all the time. Sad to say, we tell our kids wrong things a lot!

Being a Hudson “townie” can start at any age. My kids, four and three (times two), have that tenure and, like most kids, will not listen. “Put that down” and “don’t touch” didn’t register. This time, that is good. I could not stop them from picking up at the Park (Greeley) that they visit two to four times a week. They did a good job, but the area needs more work. I am very proud for them not listening … this time. I couldn’t, nor did I want to stop my kids from picking up trash that

they wanted to pick up for their park. I am so proud of my kids! Not because of this, but because of what I know they will do. In the kids’ words, “we picked up the bottles,” “we see trash,”

“man want help,” “we love you when you pick up the trash,” and “we wave back when he waves.”

Every day, Todd Brisard goes wherever he is needed to maintain PSNH’s power lines, making sure places like the Dover Ice Arena have all the electricity they need. And when Todd Brisard’s son hits the puck into the goal in overtime and Todd goes nuts in the stands, it doesn’t seem crazy to ask…
