Welcome!
We are yet again planning the logistics for another full to over-flowing show. All the trade stand space is now taken up.
Your Name Doesn’t Have To Be David....
To work in the show department, but it certainly helps! Or hinders as the case may be as it gets tricky when someone calls to speak to “David” and you have a choice of four! Left to right, David Tennant, Livestock and Competitions Assistant, David Cochrane, Show Administrator, David Alcorn, Livestock and Competitions Co-ordinator and David Dunsmuir, Show Manager.
Caravan Parks – Under New Management
For many years the Caravan Parks have been managed on our behalf by members of the local Caravan Club.
These parks have become increasingly busy and we felt the time had come to hand the management and operations over to the dedicated and highly professional firm SEP who currently manage our public car parking. Many of you will have witnessed their slick operations at events such as Badminton, Cheltenham, the CLA Game Fair and T in the Park.
They will ensure that the caravan areas do not suffer from any “fly” parking or tent erection. Only those with legitimate bookings will get access to the site. A night-time curfew will also be observed. The three Caravan Parks cater for different customers – the North Park is for livestock and heavy horse exhibitors, the West is for trade exhibitors and visitors with the East being for young persons.

We have our usual over-supply of sheep, with lambs doubling up in pens. There has been a waiting list for cattle stalls. We have taken all the stables that our supplier can give us and the entries for all the various competitions are superb.
Accordingly, we now find ourselves with a ‘House Full’ sign for the caravan parks and the lorry parking. Thank you all very much for wishing to participate – we value your involvement.
Access To The Show
This year we are employing a new security company to man the main gates on the Northern edge of the showground.
The Herdsmen’s Bar Has Moved
If your favourite watering hole at the show is the ‘Herdsmen’s Bar’, then do not go looking for it in its usual stance on The Green.
It has been re-located to a site behind the Food Hall. The access route (which will be signposted) takes you between the Food Hall and the Shopping Arcade. This self- contained site is twice the previous size and if the weather is pleasant there will be plenty room to drink and eat “al fresco”.
These are the North Gate beside the hotel, which is mostly used by sheep and cattle exhibitors, the gate at the Eastern end closest to the heavy horse stabling (Gate 6) and the West end gate (Gate 9 ), which is the one used by the light horse people accessing the showground from their lorry park.
Access for exhibitors through Gates 6 and 9 at all times is only for those wearing wristbands.
Please be aware that if you require access into the showground after 8pm at night (for example from the caravan park) via the North Gate, this will only be permitted to exhibitors wearing wristbands. This policy will be strictly policed by the gate security personnel, so if you are relying on your members badge to give you access, this won’t be good enough.
We will exchange strips of member’s tickets for wristbands, so please remember that the minute you receive your member’s pack you must send the strip to us and we will swop it for a wristband – the cut off date for this exchange will be 15th June. It is essential that you let us know what you are showing so we can send you the appropriate type of wristband – and please send a self addressed fully stamped jiffy bag to assist swift dispatch.
