R EDITOR’S LETTER Welcome to R Magazine

At last summer is here! We’ve finally shed our winter coats and embraced the sunshine in true British style. The ‘Brits’ ability to embrace every drop of summer is one of our greatest charms, from squeezing into the last bright corner of the park to cooking on the BBQ at every given opportunity, it’s time to embrace the glorious British summer with open (and somewhat pink) arms.

Oxford

This month we bring you our in-depth coverage of Oxford Fashion Week. The week-long event put Oxford firmly on the style map, with a range of local, national and international talent on show across some of the cities most prestigious venues. We caught up with CEO Carl Anglim to hear his views on the event, the industry and its role in the economy, and his plans to make Oxford a city that’s synonymous with cutting edge style. R Magazine is incredibly proud to be the official print media sponsors of OFW and we look forward to its continued growth in years to come.

Our fashion coverage doesn’t stop there; we took a trip to the Living Room, Oxford Castle to catch a fashion showcase presented by Flawless Agency in partnership with Apsire, Fresh and Gap. Next month we’ll present the finalists of our ‘Sidewalk to Catwalk’ competition to find the next face of Flawless, who will feature in an exclusive shoot for R Magazine later in the year.

In our lifestyle section this month we profile the fabulous Le Manoir, Raymond Blanc’s exclusive countryside retreat, and we take a look at the work of local artist George Irvine. Our culture section gives you the heads up on some wonderful summer events, its carnival time across the county and we can’t wait to get involved! Both the Cowley Road and Woodstock Carnivals take place over the next few weeks, giving you the perfect opportunity to get out in the sunshine and enjoy the work of local musicians, dancers and artists. In our homes section we bring you our pick of some of the best properties for sale in the Oxfordshire area, and if you’re not looking to move then che0ck out our tips on improving your home without breaking the bank.

On a personal note, I’d like to welcome Keelin to the ever-growing R Team! Keelin joins us in media sales, and will be connecting you with the best pubs, bars and restaurants in the region (it’s a hard job I know but someone’s got to do it!). I’d also like to say thanks to my partner Simon, who kindly said ‘yes’ when I got down on one knee a few weeks ago, (I know, thoroughly modern woman!) don’t worry I won’t be using the magazine to bore you with wedding planning!

As always my thanks go to all our advertisers and contributors who continue to support us, and to all the readers who have got in touch with news, keep it coming!

Enjoy the sunshine, Jo x
