The next Judo World Championships will be held in Tokyo, the capital city of Japan and will start on 9th Septemer 2010.
twelve GB GOLDS! Over the years, no less than twelve
judoka have won world titles for Great Britain. They are Jane Bridge, Loretta Doyle, Ann Hughes, Karen Briggs, Diane Bell, Sharon Rendle, Nik Fairbrother, Kate Howey, Karina Bryant, Neil Adams, Graeme Randall and Craig Fallon.

Great Britain claimed their fi rst ever world title in 1980, when Jane Bridge won gold at u48kgs. Neil Adams won GB’s fi rst gold for the men in 1983.

Shokichi Natsui of Japan became the fi rst judoka in the history of judo to win a world title, when he won the gold medal at the very fi rst World Championships ever held in Tokyo in 1956.

Will Great Britain win a world title this year in Tokyo? The team is not yet selected, as Koka Kids goes to print but we would advise you to keep a look out for Euan Burton, who is very much on form and veteran world medal winner, Karina Bryant. Give them your support!
More than 700 competitors will compete in the 2010 Tokyo World Championships with each nation allowed to enter their top two fi ghters.
