In the last issue, neil showed how to do tai-otoshi. In this issue, for more advanced judoka, neil shows a tai- otoshi variation, with a spin entry.
make sure you take time to study each step of the throw and read neil’s tips below each photo.
when you try the technique, start slowly. Build up the speed only once you are sure of the movement.

1. It is important to create space in order to rotate into your opponent. This can be done by Tori (the attacker - you) pushing away from Uke (the defender) with your arms. At the same time move your body away from Uke and get a good hold of your sleeve and lapel grips ready for your throw.
2. This particular variation of Tai-Otoshi, which is a spinning one, relies on a feint (fake) in the opposite direction. By planting my left foot over towards the Uke’s opposite foot, I can provoke a reaction from my opponent who will believe that I am attempting to throw left handed.
