4 DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau: Bring Your Meetings Home Tourism is economic development For the last few years, the DuPage

Convention & Visitors Bureau has been working on the “Bring Your Meetings Home” tourism initiative. Little did we know when we launched this campaign in January 2008 that, just a few months later, our economy would be struggling and tourism would see some of its darkest days since those following September 11, 2001. Today, tourism remains one of the top

three growth industries in DuPage County, as we continue to raise the banner high for keeping our tourism dollars—especially those generated by group meetings and events—in our own backyard. The local hospitality industry employs

thousands of workers and pumps billions of dollars back into the economy. These dollars do three things: they support jobs, they generate income for our community, and they raise government revenue at the city, state and federal levels through payroll, room tax, sales tax and licensing fees, thereby decreasing dependence on local taxes. Every convention, meeting and event

you bring to the Chicagoland area contributes significantly to the growth, prosperity and economic fiber of the entire community. Please join with other local business leaders and community members in making the Chicago area your preferred destination.
