The Big Adventure… Gets Cooking

The Big Adventure is a way for Scout Groups across the UK to show parents and other adults what they can do for Scouting and what Scouting can do for them. This year, there’s a brilliant cooking theme to help give parents and other adults a taste of volunteering for Scouting. From Saturday 1st May until Tuesday 31st August, any camp or event can be part of The Big Adventure, simply by inviting parents and other adults to get involved. Sainsbury’s Active Kids is proud to be a partner of The Scout Association and delighted to be supporting The Big Adventure because it gets kids outdoors, active and enjoying some campfire cooking!

Kids Big Barbecue Recipe Tips

Sausages

Try coating your sausages with a mixture of

warmed honey and wholegrain mustard after barbecuing or grilling.

Baked potato

Scoop out cooked baked potato halves and mix the insides with soft cream cheese, chives and shredded ham. Spoon the mixture back into the skins and put on the barbecue until warmed through and golden on top.

Corn on the cob

For a little spice, brush the cobs with honey, squeeze on some lime juice and sprinkle with fresh chilli.

Dessert

Why not try melting some skewered marshmallows on the BBQ and then dip in a bowl of hundreds and thousands or chocolate drops?

Volunteers needed in

We are keen to hear from adults who would be willing to volunteer some time to offer young people in the village of Bury and surrounding area the opportunity to participate in the adventures of Scouting. Supporters are required for various roles to work with young people in leading activities and events, as well as undertaking administrative duties.
