LEARNING OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM
High quality learning outside the classroom supports attainment, motivation and stimulates new-found interests and rekindles enthusiasm for learning. In the longer term improved confidence, enthusiasm and positive attitudes translate into better achieving pupils.
But before Learning Outside the Classroom becomes just another pressure on your curriculum, let PGL take the responsibility for delivering the best, both in quality and value.
PGL courses in northern France contribute to a broad range of language-related objectives including improvements in all four key skills.
A PGL course is a highly inclusive experience. For less able pupils the environment can be a very stimulating experience, helping them develop an appreciation for cultural differences. For your talented pupils there will be contact with target language material and plenty of opportunities for extended projects relating to the trip.
SUPPORTING THE LANGUAGES CURRICULUM – AT ALL LEVELS
At Primary school
For primary school children it’s the ideal opportunity to maintain enthusiasm and consolidate learning before the move to secondary education. A trip which includes multiple feeder schools for one secondary is highly recommended to help standardise levels of attainment and thereby ease the transition to secondary school French.
At pre-examination level (KS3 / S1-S3)
At pre-examination level a PGL trip can often stimulate pupils who may otherwise show limited interest in French, bringing it to life and making it a relevant and useful skill.
Language-study courses will focus on confidence and achievement in the language itself, while our Explorer course will contribute more widely to cultural understanding and an appreciation of French.
At higher levels (KS4 / S4-S5)
Once your pupils are studying French to examination level there is simply no substitute for visiting France. It improves confidence and motivation, insight into the culture and levels of achievement in language skills.
The focus is primarily on the areas that can be more difficult to achieve in school, namely speaking and listening skills.
A trip for students working at this level is also popular as an intensive pre-examination revision course.
