PGL courses reinforce the principles of the Every Child Matters campaign, specifically supporting the five stated aims for our young people:

Be healthy

PGL’s courses introduce children to a range of sports and activities, often for the first time. Even those who do not excel at sport in a school context develop a new interest and recognise that outdoor pursuits can be exhilarating and enjoyable.

Stay safe

While it is tempting to eliminate all risk in our young people’s lives, PGL teaches them how to assess and deal with it themselves.

It’s both more realistic and more beneficial.

Enjoy and achieve

You know that if you can engage your pupils in something they enjoy, they will learn almost without effort. Our philosophy is all about the power of enjoyment leading to the greatest achievements.

Make a positive contribution

Your pupils’ experience at PGL is about learning social and interpersonal skills, giving encouragement and support. These are powerful learning outcomes which contribute to a sense of belonging, of feeling valued, and the ability to make a positive contribution in their community.

Achieve economic well-being

Motivated learners with practical skills and a more profound understanding of the world around them are better prepared ultimately when faced with difficult choices and the world of work.
