Course Information:
This course develops students as practitioners in the challenging field of photography, from the traditional areas of black and white darkroom based images to digital photography and computerised image manipulation.
The first year relates to the development of photographic techniques and studio practice. Darkroom practice and professional studies keep students up-to-date in all areas of photographic production.

The second year encourages students to build on their critical thinking and analysis skills. Units are interlinked with: practitioner visits, live projects, exhibition set up and professional practice.
Project themes are based around the following areas: • Traditional black and white photography using an SLR camera • Digital photography
• Location/Advertising photographic techniques
• Computer software • Professional and studio practice.
Throughout the course, visits to galleries and exhibitions are encouraged and organised. Guest lecturers from the industry regularly visit and there are opportunities for overseas exchanges and educational trips. Entry into relevant, national competitions is encouraged and all students exhibit in a final major show.
