Paige’s Butterfly Run
The annual event inmemory of Paige Yeomans Arnold, a Baldwinsville second-grader who succumbed to leukemia in 1994, will take place on Saturday, June 5, starting at downtown’s Federal Building, 100 S. Clinton St., prior to that day’s Taste of Syracuse activities. A 5K run begins at 9 a.m., with a 40-foot caterpillar crawl for children ages 5 and younger at 9:45 a.m., and a 3K fun run-fitness walk at 10 a.m. Registration fees are $30 for one person, $25 for the next family member after initial registration, and free for the caterpillar crawl. Proceeds from the run will benefit the
Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. Contact

Also aiding in this year’s Paige’s Butterfly Run will be book signings with two Central New York authors as part of a weekend bookfair
at the Clay Barnes & Noble Bookstore, 3956
Route 31.Bruce Coville, who has penned nearly 90 books for young readers, including his latest,The Last Hunt, part of his Unicorn Chronicles series, will be on hand with pen in hand on Saturday, June 5, 4 to 6 p.m. And Laurie Halse Anderson (pictured, above), the popular scribe of Speak,1793,Fever and other tomes, will entertain her young fans on Sunday, June 6, 1 to 3 p.m. Readers are encouraged to visit the run’s website,
www.pbrun.org, to print a copy of the bookfair voucher, then buy a book, CD, DVD or magazine at Barnes & Noble and hand the voucher to a cashwrap attendant so that a percentage of the profits will go toward buying books for the children’s hospital.
