Jim Paquette Competes In The Applewood Smoke Off

Lieutenant Jim Paquette participated in

the Applewood Smoke Off competition held at the Mann Orchards in Methuen Mass on May 22nd and 23rd. The competition is made up of 12 teams

from around New England barbecuing several different types of meat to be named the best of the Smoke Off. Jim’s teams

name is The Devine Swine. Team members include Jim, his brother Moe, Don Williams and Anthony Martino. The teams start the fires on saturday night to cook throughout the night. Brisket and Pulled Pork cook up to ten hours.

The turn

ins started with chicken at 11,, ribs at 12, Pulled pork at 1 and brisket at 2. Jim’s team cooked with charcoal and applewood. They cook about 70 pounds of meat to turn in 6 portions for each category. When the cooking was completed The Devine Swine Team placed 1st in chicken,

3rd in Brisket and 4th overall. This is the first time the team competed but they participated in the competition just for fun. The Devine Swine will be competing on

June 11th,12th and13 at Rib Fest in Nashua and a couple other cook offs in July and August.

Members of Manchester Engine 11 work to open the door after this vehicle was involved in a t-bone accident at the intersection of and ######### on May 15th. One person was transported with injuries.
