Choral Group Provides Family-Like Support

Ardith Stensland has been singing with
the MelloMacs for nearly 40 years. She says she values the opportunity

The choir provides opportunities for members of all ages to remain purposeful, with a chance to give back to community. The fact that there are several members well into their 90s is a good indicator of the physical and mental health benefi ts of singing in this service choir. Stensland says she is drawn to the
choir’s family-like support, with many examples of great affection and support during diffi cult transitions. Just this past year, when a choir member needed to move into an assisted living facility, other members helped pack up the house and set up and decorate the new apartment. The MelloMacs then performed at this member’s new home and were hosted to a lovely wine and cheese party in the newly decorated apartment.
