What’s next for Coastal Creatives?

The last year has seen a dramatic growth in the number of artists we represent. ‘Word of mouth’ and advertising in art and lifestyle magazines has generated many new introductions, and we have the pleasure of meeting new artists at the Gallery on a weekly basis.

Encouraged by the good sales, we launched our own Coastal Creatives range of home and beach hut accessories and have now extended the range to include jewellery. Four freelance staff from our local community work for us either in the gallery serving our customers or making products for Coastal Creatives. Our aim next year is to exhibit the Coastal Creatives’

collection at trade shows with the hope of gaining outlets across the country.

What advice would you give to someone starting their own creative business?

Following the initial successful growth of our business, we now sell online. Our research has highlighted that by 2020, of every £5 spent by British shoppers, £1 will go to online retailers and investment in a good website is a must!

With the growing popularity and demand for handmade, selling online was a natural progression for us and our aim has been to extend the shopping experience from the gallery to the website. Our website is designed to inspire and appeal to a wide market whilst keeping a strong

coastal identity and promoting best sellers and new collections.

Selling online has added valuable revenue to our business, enabling us to continue to grow and expand in today’s competitive retail market. It has also raised the profile of Coastal Creatives, our artists and our designers and can only increase our visitor numbers throughout the year!
