What is the most rewarding aspect of your work?

We aim to provide customers with a memorable experience. Visitors often remark on a ‘feel good feeling’ and find the space inspirational and uplifting. The craft studio has become a hub for creatives where visitors can share patterns, ideas and celebrate the return of traditional craft.

We also offer a ‘Wish List’ Service and occasionally, customers are looking for a specialised, very particular item and we will do our best to source it or have it made for them - a good example being a knitted pair of men’s trunks! Nothing fazes us and it’s often these challenges that give us - as well as our customers – satisfaction.

What keeps you both motivated?

We can provide our customers with both a lovely handmade product and also a great story to go with it. We feel passionate about personally visiting artists at their studios, exhibitions or fairs to gain valuable insight into their making process and products. We develop a relationship with the artists, learning interesting and often quirky stories to pass on to customers, or some interesting

technical knowledge ... or how an everyday material is recycled and made into a work of art.

In recognition for our support of emerging artists, we have been invited to give a number of talks at Bournemouth Arts Institute and local arts networking groups. This is a valuable opportunity for people embarking on a career in the arts to learn more about the commercial
