Hubert Durham

On January 17, 1932 in

Freestone County, Texas, Watson and Emma Carter Durham became the proud parents of a sweet baby boy whom they named “Hebert.” He was the third child of eight children.

for Herbert Busby on Sunday Morning, May 16, 2010 in the Parkview Regional Hospital among loving family and devoted friends. Viewing was Friday, May 21, 2010 from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the family present from 6:00PM - 8:00 PM for a Wake Service at the Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Antioch Asia Primitive Baptist Church on the corner of Washington and Busby Avenue in Teague. Officiating was Rev. Lonnie Pelton, pastor and interment was in the Asia Cemetery in Teague. The body lay in repose in the church 1 hour before the service begins. Herbert was born on April

24, 1964 in Teague, Texas and was the 7th child born to the late Lee Bostic and the late Bessie Mae Busby. He graduated with the Teague High School Class of 1983 and entered the Job Corp in San Marcus, Texas, receiving a certificate in Automotive Painting. He was a custodian for the Teague Independent School District. Herb was preceded in death

by his parents, two brothers: Larry Busby and Don Ree Busby and his grandmother: Rosie Lee Heggins. He is survived by: A brother: Lester Wayne Busby and wife, Vashti, Mexia, Texas; His sisters: Phyllis Roblow, Teague, Texas; Darlene Busby, Temple, Texas; Bernadene Busby, Teague, Texas; Regina Hines, Arlington, Texas; Bridget Denise Busby, Waco, Texas; and Staffany Diane Busby, Temple, Texas; His aunt: Maggie Lee Howard, Houston, Texas; Several Great-aunts; 8 nieces, 14 nephews, special friends; Rhonda and Sidney; and a most devoted friend : Norma Diaz; a host of other relatives and friends. Hubert attended and

received his education at Dunbar Public School. On May 15, 2010 in Palestine,

Texas, Hubert left his earthly body to go be with his Heavenly Father. Funeral services for Mr.

Durham were held Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Lone Star Baptist Church in Oakwood. Interment was at Lone Star Cemetery. He accepted Christ early in

life and united with Rocky Mt. Baptist Church and was involved with Watch Care at Pilgrim Rest Community Church. Hubert married Bertha B.

Smith in Holy Matrimony on October 10, 1957; this union was blessed with two children. He was preceded in death

by his parents, Emma and Watson Durham; son, Hubert Durham, Jr.; two sisters – Edna Anthony and Zyonia Young; two brothers – Joe Watson Durham and L.C. Durham; and grandson Dwight Durham. Those left behind to cherish many sweet and loving memories are: Devoted and loving wife of 52 years – Bertha Durham; daughter – Denise (Vic) Terry of Oakwood; three sisters – Minnie Young of Dallas, Barbara Williams of Garland, and Mary (Dan) Rabb of Oakwood; Aunt Ruth Price of Ft. Worth; three grandchildren – Nekiesha Chinn of Oakwood, Alivia (Laurent) Green of Italy, Jeffery Chinn of Texoma, Washington; a host of nieces, nephews, and many relatives and friends. Annie Dillard Carter

Mrs. Annie Carter on May 18, 2010, after she quietly passed away among loving family and devoted friends. Viewing began Friday, May 21,

2010 from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM at the Funeral Home and from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at St. James United Methodist Church, 401 West Tyler Street, Teague, Texas for a Wake Service. Funeral Service were held Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 12:00 Noon in the St. James United Methodist Church, 401 West Tyler Street, Teague, with the pastor, Min. Joshua Fields officiating and the former pastor, Rev. Roger Hunter serving as Eulogist. Interment followed in the Antioch Cemetery, N. 1st Street in Teague. The body lay in repose at the church for 1 hour before the service began. After the interment, the family lunched at the Carter residence, 504 Fillmore Street, Teague, Texas 75860. Mrs. Annie Carter, born

December 15, 1919, was a native of Teague, attended the Teague Public Schools and was baptized in the St. James United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the church and participated in many of its ministries. She has been a soloist in the St. James Choir. Annie’s marriage to Willie D.

Carter of over 65 years ended in his death. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her parents: Wilson Dillard and Lula Donley; her sons: Elray and Earl Dwain Carter; and her daughter: Celestine Carter Jones. Surviving Mrs. Carter are:

Charles Brown

Funeral services for Mr.

Charles Brown, 80, were held on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Teague. Bro. Darrel Beggs officiated. Interment followed the services at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation was held on Tuesday

from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Brown passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Parkview

Regional Hospital in Mexia. He was born in Hillsboro on November 9, 1929. He grew up in

Teague and graduated from Teague High School with the class of 1947. Mr. Brown received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from

Baylor University and was proud to be a Baylor Bear. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was

stationed on a base in Korea. Mr. Brown had a long career as an English Teacher and taught

school in Abbott for several years before his long career at Teague High School. Mr. Brown went on numerous trips as a sponsor with his students during his career and was especially involved in Journalism and Student Council activities. He also coached Tennis a few years, bringing a district championship to Teague one season. Mr. Brown loved to collect recipes, cook, and especially eat! He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church for almost fifty-

one years. During his life he served as a deacon, on numerous committees, sang in the choir, bell choir, served as director of the young adult curriculum, and many other ministries of First Baptist. He is survived by one nephew, Richard Young & wife Jan of

West Lake Village, CA; two great nieces, Jennifer Price & husband Larry of Woodland Hills, CA and Laura Young of Van Nuys, CA; two great-great nephews, Alex Price and Zack Price both of Woodland Hills, CA; several cousins, and numerous good friends. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Young

and Tommie Fern Brown. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 791, Teague, TX 75860.

Carlos Hilton Jr., her children Keith Smith, Michial Smith, Carla Smith, daughter-in-laws Amanda and Maria, seven grandchildren and her sister Linda Mitchelettie. She is preceded in death by her

parents Albert & Lois Cannon and brother Jackie Cannon. Pat was born December 21,

1948 in Collin County Texas. Carlos & Pat were married

February 12, 1992 in Lewisville, Texas. She was a member of Victory Full Gospel Fellowship Church of Wortham Texas. Family Visitation will be Tuesday

May 25, 2010 at Porter Chapel in Wortham from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Graveside funeral services

will be Wednesday May 26, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at Wortham Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Pastor Mike Fautt. In Lieu of flowers the family
