LYNETTE SMALE
Holstein UK are delighted to introduce Lynette Smale as our recently appointed Membership and HYB Co-ordinator. Based at Holstein UK headquarters, Scotsbridge House in Hertfordshire, Lynette is currently discovering the delights of the M4 and M25 as she has relocated to Kingsclere in Hampshire with her partner Henry Steel, Assistant Farm Manager on the Kingsclere Estate. Originally from Launceston in Cornwall, Lynette is already a familiar face to the Cornish Young Farmers and HYB, and as a graduate in Rural Enterprise and Land Managment from Harper Adams, many of our wider membership will also have met Lynette. The Smale pedigree extends back over many generations. Lynette’s father Michael farms the Glebewin herd which he took over from his father, past HFS President Gordon Smale, the second generation to man- age the prefix which was originally registered in 1954. Lynette has many years’ experience of Holstein Club activities which
will no doubt stand her in great stead in her new role and we are very pleased to welcome her to Holstein UK. You can contact Lynette on 01923 695282 or 07740 851153. Email

MEET THE STAFF
MICHAEL HIRANI-SMITH and GARY OWEN
At a recent BT Business Event held at nearby
Wembley Stadium, Holstein UK’s IT team were surprised to be greeted by ex-London Mayor Ken Livingstone. Michael Hirani-Smith (right) is our IT Manager
and oversees all the technical aspects that ensure the reliability of the Holstein website, TelReg system and the numerous databases housed at Scotsbridge House. Gary Owen (left), works on the frontline looking after all the technical support required by the field staff and with over 100 CIS Milk Recorders and a dozen classifiers, his phone is often ringing. Mike and Gary are both big gadget fans,
an obsession shared with Mike’s two sons, Kamaal, 11 and Dillon, 7, which certainly helps with their IT support roles at Holstein UK. Mike started out as a programmer 12 years ago and Gary has now ‘served’ three years.
CLASSIFIED GRANDPARENTS
Two Holstein UK classifiers have recently become grandfathers.
GEOFF BONE (left)
Geoff and his wife Christine live in St Michaels, Preston. They cel- ebrated the birth of their first grandchild, Harrison, on 16 March weighing in at 8lb 4oz. Geoff has worked as a classifier for the Society for 13 years and is currently working in the Cheshire and North Wales area.
MICHAEL PARKINSON (right)
Two more first time grandparents, Michael and Christine
Parkinson, welcomed their first grandchild, Alfie, in early April. Michael and his family live in Much Hoole, Preston. Michael has
worked for Holstein UK for eight years and is currently working in Staffordshire, Derby and surrounding areas.
