Folk Literature Day at the Academy
submitted by Presentation
of Mary Academy
The students in Mrs. Psoinos/Mrs. Toth and Mrs. Schmidt’s second- grade classrooms at the Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson celebrated Folk Literature Day on May 17. The teachers had students read the various folk tales, and then discussed them together. Each student and teacher dressed as a character from a folk literature book of their choice, wrote a book report, and created a box float. Parents, grandparents, and students from the other classrooms were invited to walk through the enchanted classrooms to view the projects. The second graders had so much fun while improving their reading and comprehension skills.

Thank You for Our Freedom
My “thumbs up” to Representative Shawn Jasper for supporting HB 1665, Representative Coffey’s amendment to RSA 159:16 and RSA 159:19-a, to remove the penalty for carrying or selling stilettos, switch knives, daggers, and dirk knives and making the criminal use of such weapons a crime. While it may not seem all that important, citizens now have the freedom to carry any knife that they feel they need for their job or sport. The governor signed the bill into law.
Also, “Pro-Gun NH” Council of Advisors elected former State Senator and Senate Majority Leader Bob Clegg as the second president of the organization. Bob, who is now a registered lobbyist, will be active within the State House in advancing the cause of gun owners. When you see these men, tell them thanks for all they do for our freedoms.

Appreciation Celebration Marks First Anniversary at Rodgers Memorial Library
submitted by George H. and Ella M. Rodgers Memorial Library
An Appreciation Celebration will mark the first
anniversary of the dedication of the George H. and Ella M. Rodgers Memorial Library on Saturday, June 5, at the Rodgers Library at 194 Derry Road in Hudson. Just one year earlier, the opening of the new library
was marked with a dedication and family-style cookout to celebrate the gift of the $4 million facility made to residents of Hudson by Philip and Alvin Rodgers, who made the donation in honor of their parents, George H. and Ella M. Rodgers. In the last year, the library has provided greatly expanded physical facilities and programming for adult, young adult, and child patrons, which have more than doubled prior usage at the beautiful, century-old Hills Memorial Building. In that time, patrons have commented enthusiastically about the Library and its increased programming and resources. To celebrate this most important anniversary, the
Library Board of Trustees is inviting all patrons and residents of Hudson to share
what you want at
You can always find
in a Day of Appreciation on Saturday, June 5, between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served, and mementos of the new Library Dedication Ceremonies and the last 100 years of Library services in Hudson will be featured. There will also be a guest journal in which patrons
may enter their comments about the library and the Rodgers family who has made this wonderful town asset possible. Guests may write in the journal on the day of the celebration or may bring comments written at home, which will be added to the journal’s pages. For further information about the Day of Appreciation,
