The Litchfield Historical Society will once again sponsor the Memorial Day services for the town of Litchfield. The day will begin with a parade, which will step off from the Litchfield Middle School at 10 a.m., and will be followed by services at the Litchfield Historical Society Building. Any individual or group wishing to participate in the parade is asked to contact Dr. Steven P. Calawa at 917-434-4933.
The Litchfield Lions Club will hold a Popcorn Sale at McQuesten Farm, 334 Charles Bancroft Highway, Litchfield, on Memorial Day weekend from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Proceeds from the sale will go to support community service projects in Litchfield.

Hudson Supervisors of the Checklist will
meet from 7-7:30 p.m. at the Hudson Town Hall for the purpose of making changes to the checklist. This will be the last day to make party affiliation changes before the September State Primary. Residents are reminded that they may register or make changes at the Town Clerk’s office during normal business hours.

Hollis author Sara Backer was the first
woman and first American to serve as a visiting professor at Japan’s Shizouka University. She will share her experiences living in Japan as part of her presentation on her mystery, American Fuji, about two Americans navigating the cultural barriers of a foreign land while trying to solve the mystery of an American exchange student’s death in Japan. She will be speaking at the Rodgers Memorial Library, 194 Derry Road, Hudson, at 7 p.m.
Learn how to make all kinds of crafts out of paper at the monthly Paper Techniques workshops. The June 3 project will be Paper Beads, which includes creating beads with rolled paper and various painting and glazing techniques. The workshops are open to teens and adults. Paper Techniques meets the first Thursday of each month at 2:30-4 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. at the Rodgers Memorial Library, 194 Derry Road, Hudson. Pre-register at 886-6030.

Join us for an hour of fun and learning at
Griffin Memorial School’s Family Literacy
Night. The Griffin Memorial School teachers will be doing 30-minute workshops for parents on strategies that can be used at home to help children become better readers. Students are invited to attend fun activities in the gym while parents attend the workshops. Students may only attend if a parent attends. The first workshop begins promptly at 6:30 p.m., and the second workshop begins promptly at 7:10 p.m.

Come enjoy an evening of band music
at 7 p.m. at Campbell High School. The Litchfield Middle School 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade bands, along with the jazz band, will be performing their end-of-the-year concert. Admission is free. Come support the students and their year-long work. You won’t be disappointed. Refreshments and raffle baskets will be sold by the Litchfield Middle School Friends of Music.

Night, to be held at 7 p.m. in the Campbell High School Auditorium. At this event, each varsity team will present two special Athletic Achievement Awards. Additionally, each sport program will acknowledge its student athletes, and present Varsity Letters, Junior Varsity Letters, and Certificates of Participation. The Booster Club will make a presentation to student-athletes who have lettered twice in Campbell High School Sports as of this season. Refreshments will be served by the Campbell High School Athletic Booster Club.

their Eighth Annual Bronco “Belly Bustin”
Chili Fiesta from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The event will feature live music from the Alvirne High School Jazz Band. This chili cook-off is sanctioned by the International Chili Society, and the winner will qualify for the World Championship Chili Cook-off. The Fiesta will take place at the Hills House Field on Route 102 in Hudson, rain or shine. There is a small admission cost (free for children under 9). See

The Hudson Police Department is sponsoring
the AARP Driving Safety Program, which
will be held in the Anne Seabury Community Room, Hudson Police Department, 1 Constitution Drive. The classes will be conducted over four periods on two separate days. The June session will be held on Wednesday, June 16, and Thursday, June 17, from 4-8 p.m. There is a reasonable fee for the course, with a discount for AARP members. This course is designed especially for drivers age 50 and older. Participating individuals will learn how to avoid traffic hazards and may be eligible for auto insurance discounts (for more information, contact your insurance agent). Class size will be limited to 30 individuals, so contact Master Patrol Officer Joseph Hoebeke at 886-6011, ext. 2455, to reserve your seat as soon as possible.
