Tyco 01799 520 022
l Fibre-optic cable for mission-critical areas
A new range of fire survival fibre- optic cable is available from the AMP NETCONNECT unit of Tyco Electronics. Designed for use in installations such as tunnels,
subways and other areas where signal continuity during a fire is required, the cable combines rodent-resistant glass yarns with an inner universal low smoke zero halogen (ULSZH) jacket, corrugated steel tape armour (CST) and an outer ULSZH jacket. It is able to maintain a signal while being subjected to flame temperatures of 750°C for 90 minutes.
Thorn 02087 329 800
l New PopPack: A World of Difference
Thorn’s all-new PopPack, the 16th generation of the world’s best- selling light fitting, is poised to change how contractors view fluorescent lighting. It has a
luminaire with a quicker installation sequence, easier electrical connection, rapid authentic emergency conversion and presence and daylight detection. All in addition to T5 or T8 lamps and a wider range of attachments for commercial and industrial requirements. 2 circular mounting studs are fixed to the ceiling, or BESA box, and the spine pushes into place.
MK Electric 02070 318 290
l Skeleton design goes into the 21st century
MK Electric has developed the Sentry range of skeleton units to bring 21st century safety standards to social housing. Skeleton boards are spine
backplate assemblies that fit within a Mantel or Clifton type enclosure, essentially a metal ‘utilities’ cupboard, that may also contain the meter. The range counters all the problems associated with skeleton boards, rarely used in new-build and only installed as part of refurbishment programmes, to offer a modern unit that meets the highest safety regulations.
Aico
l Aico provides better alarm control
Aico has launched two control switches for its RadioLINK Fire and Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms. The Alarm Control Switches come in two variants, one smoke and heat
alarms and one for combined smoke, heat and CO alarm systems. Both have extra features to allow residents extra control of their alarms. Both are powered by a built-in ten year Lithium battery and communicate with the alarms using radio- frequency signals so there is no wiring. This allows the switches to be installed with minimum expense and disruption.
08707 584 000 Harting 01604 827 500
l New housings provide more wiring space
HARTING has added extended angled bulkhead and surface- mounting housings of size 3 A to the Han(R) HPR series of industrial connectors, making it possible to
mount a Han-Brid(R) Quintax contact insert in an angled Han(R) 3 HPR bulkhead or surface mounting housing. The series is suited to providing the electrical interface in areas such as transport, applications with harsh climatic or moisture-resistant requirements, and sensitive interfaces that have to be protected or shielded.
