Festival of British Archaeology
Recycle Now Week runs every June and aims to encourage more people to recycle more things more often with the message ‘lets waste less’. This year the focus is on recycling small waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and if your local authority is involved your school can collect Recycling Reward tokens that can be used to benefit the school. World Cup Final
The Festival of British Archaeology is an annual extravaganza of heritage events coordinated by the Council for British Archaeology. The Festival presents everyone the opportunity to learn about their local heritage, to see archaeology in action, and to get involved with events ranging from excavation open days and behind-the- scenes tours to family fun days and guided walks that take place all over the UK. International Youth Day
In 2009 more than 10,000 schools and 3 million children took part the Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week. Schools organised their own Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Torch Relays, and pupils made Sports Pledges to take part in more sport and to try something new. This year South Africa will host the 19th FIFA World Cup where teams from 32 nations come together to play football. The tournament provides interesting opportunities to teach children about the different nations competing with special focus on South Africa and its fascinating history.
