SunLund By-the-Sea

Heaven at the end of Highway 101

SunLund By-The-Sea boasts the novelty of being the last campground in Canada before the 101 (Pacific Coastal Highway) unfurls into the ocean. By the lush, green grass and trimmed surrounding foliage, it's evident that the owner/operators take pride in the establishment, and that customer satisfaction is paramount. We have it on good word that past patrons have even rated the restrooms, laundromat and showers as among the cleanest in Canada.

SunLund is nestled in the historic fishing village of Lund, B.C., about 120 km north of Vancouver. With more than 130 years of pioneering history infused into the landscape, it's not hard to imagine, as you drive into the town for the first time, the streets as they once were, gorged by log carriages, themselves weighed down by first-growth timber fifteen feet through. Today Lund supports an active commercial prawning fleet and a diversity of aquaculture farms such as oysters, clams, scallops, geoduck and mussels.

During the prohibition era, many of the

surrounding islands in the coast archipelago provided remote hiding spots for rum- runners who provided large quantities of illegal alcohol to the States.

SunLund By-The-Sea provides full-service RV lots (big-rig friendly), tenting campsites, and cabins. RV travellers and campers often use the campground as a home-base to explore nearby Desolation Sound Provincial Marine Park, Okeover Inlet, the legendary Sunshine Coast Trail, the Copeland Islands, and Savary Island, an island that is affectionately called the California Coast of B.C.

The Copeland Islands Provincial Marine Park is an excellent spot for kayaking, small craft sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, and exploration. The area is home to an incredibly diverse array of sea life and marine birds. Your hosts at SunLund will arrange kayak and boat charters for you.

The Sunshine Coast Trail is one hundred and eighty kilometres long and is made up of several segments. The trail is tailor-made for multi-day, overnight, or half-day hikes with several access points near Lund. Terrain ranges from challenging,

for experienced hikers, to easy, for novice trekkers.

Lund has long been recognized - as is its neighbour to the south, Powell River - as one of the best places to scuba dive for underwater scenery and flourishing sea-life. In fact, the famous underwater biologist, Jacques Cousteau, said the same of the many captivating shore dives, wreck dives, and cliff dives. And, for those who want to experience the underwater mysteries, scuba and snorkel equipment can be arranged through your hosts at SunLund.

SunLund By-The-Sea provides the perfect location for a life-altering taste of B.C.'s coastal life.
