Fintry Protected Area was established on April 18, 2001, to enhance the ecological viability of the existing Park. This protected area protects important California bighorn sheep habitat and provides increased representation of the North Okanagan Basin eco-section by capturing an increased elevational gradient as well
as providing a spectacular canyon and hiking and viewing opportunities.
The campground is open April 1 to October 15.

the Okanagan wagon road and the location of the stage coach depot. Like most of the early ranches in the area, it developed into a small, virtually self-sufficient community,
replete with post office, blacksmith shop and church.
