First rule of Chili Cook-off? Come hungry. Last year,more than 80 varieties of chili and salsawere on offer during the event,which takes place inMedicine Hat’s historic downtown. This year’s event is July 24.With traditional, extra-spicy and vegetarian

versions and salsa available, there’s sure to be a variety for everyone. Entrants compete in four categories with tasters voting for their favourites. And if you need a break to digest, or just want to get out and enjoy the summer sun, there’s a wide variety of outdoor entertainment on tap as well.

Marvel at the Frank Slide

Frank Slide Interpretive Centre offers visitors a look at the disasterwhich destroyedmuch of the town of Frank, aswell as the history of the Crowsnest Pass itself.Newexhibits focus on the early history of the town of Frank and the
