When Laconia State
Representative Ralph Rosen stepped down a few years back conser- vatives lost a friend in Concord. In particular, the Pro-
Life folks lost a vote they could always count for protecting the unborn. Ralph served his coun-
try honorably in WWII (and after) as a Navy pi- lot. Where you saw Ralph
you saw his beloved wife, Joan. The Belknap GOP will miss his gift at sell- ing someone a ticket to a Republican picnic - boat ride - or Candi- dates Night! In all, Ralph was quite a man. Ralph passed away last week. Thank you, Rep. Ros-
en, for your service to your country and to your

New NH friend: “Aren’t
al l conservatives who want to live by the con- stitution, racists?” “Arizona was great with
Barry Goldwater. San- dra Day O’Connor was
a great Judge who be- lieved in and upheld the Constitution. Even John McCain was good for a while. I do not know what happened to the state over the years. I guess too many California peo- ple moved in and voted the liberal governor in.

thing they want. The only thing that was better in Arizona was the fact that they had more Char- ter schools and parents had more of a choice in education. These charter schools did not have cer- tified teachers, but they still did a better job in educating. There is nothing in
the Constitution that guaranties public edu- cation, right? My fam- ily moved out of Arizona nine years ago because of these same issues that are in the paper today: the crime and influx of illegal immigrants ruin- ing the neighborhoods, schools, our way of life - and nothing being done about it - until now. I am tired of people in
NH (Concord Monitor) and other places calling this new ‘identification’ law unconstitutional and against civil rights. Live in Arizona for a while and see how these il- legals affect the way of life out there. This is not
about
race....because I have had many Hispanic friends out there who have no problems com- plying with the law and the Constitution but do have issues with illegals ruining Arizona. “I hope NH does not become like Arizona... because we are running out of safe places to move to....oh, and one rea- son we picked NH was the less crime and the fact that it was a RED
state....it is now a BLUE state and look at the in- crease in crime.” ********
Looking ahead to Ad-
vocates: Saturday (May 22) some of the brave men who followed the or- ders of their commander- in-chief in the late 60’s will spend an hour or two discussing The Viet Nam War during the pro- gram.
******** We begin the process of
changing that on Primary Day in September - when the voters of each party
choose those candidates who best represent the ideals and promises of “their” party affiliation. I wi l l be choosing an independent, principled conservative using the Republican brand. The primary is where this happens; why skip the primary and wait for the general election where you now pick the lesser of two evils. Your response (
advocates@weirs.com) will be read and your name withheld should that be your desire. If you choose to use “The Mail Boat” that is even better - we like reader letters!

Darn, I missed the
meeting! Roland Maheu
did attend the monthly Belknap County Repub- licans gathering. Roland is a friend of mine, wish he had told me he was going. I would have at- tended with him. Meet- ings such as this where candidates ask to visit
