PASSENGER COUNTS SPIKE

As the rest

of the economy limps slowly to recovery, Brevard’s transportation hubs experienced explosive growth in the

first quarter of 2010. The mid-February return of U.S. Airways, as well as new service from Direct

Air, resulted in a year-over-year passenger increase of 80% at Melbourne International Airport in March. Further north, as Port Canaveral ushers in its new fleet of larger cruise ships and welcomes additional ports of call from Baltimore, passenger counts surged in all months of 2010. Impressive growth was also seen in the Port’s cargo business, fueled in part by the start of operations at Seaport Canaveral tank farm.
