Our values

They’re easy as ABC…D and E

Our values are at the heart of the way we do things at Emap and set an expectation about how we go about business; they underline how we behave towards each other and our customers every day.

The Emap values are:

Accountable Brave Collaborative Decent Essential

Accountable

 We devolve decision-making responsibility as far as we can down through the organisation

 Because everyone plays their part  We link reward, wherever possible, to that responsibility  We make responsible decisions to safeguard our profits and our environment

 We invest with care and do not tolerate waste  We treat customers, suppliers and each other responsibly  We will reward and celebrate success but insist on excellence in our products and of ourselves

 People who do not share that value will not find lasting reward here

Brave

 We encourage innovation, imagination and creativity  We nurture an idea and recognise idea for how precious it is  We are better at standing things up than knocking things down

 We look for opportunity beyond the incremental and give it the time and space it needs

 We are not frightened to experiment  We learn from our mistakes but are not deterred by them  We seize opportunity  We run winners  We are fast and decisive once we have the basis for decision

Collaborative

 We are a team, respecting the different skill sets any winning team needs

 We ask, listen and hear  We research by seeking data and opinion  We recognise our brands will be deployed in different formats by other specialists in the company

 We share our customer information  We help our colleagues to achieve  We make one and one make three

Decent

 We communicate openly and honestly with each other  We are a great business to deal with  We are consistent, fair and appropriate  We correct our mistakes  We say thank you and sorry  But we are nightmare competitors and tough buyers

Essential

 We deliver reliable product that enables users to base decisions and conclude transactions safely

 We set ourselves the highest standards in our generation of content and delivery of product

 We are generators of unique products based on our own intellectual property; we are not repackagers or retellers

 We look to add value to our propositions progressively, provided we can do it profitably

 We aspire to continuous improvement, subjecting our output to regular critical appraisal

 We make mediocrity feel out of place

Niall Santamaria -Market Analyst, Emap

Graduated from St Catharine’s College, Cambridge in 2005

I joined a year ago from OC&C Strategy Consultants, to try and get a perspective on how the advice that consultancies give out is utilised by businesses and try and aid Emap’s ambitious expansion into new markets, products and sectors. It has been a great opportunity to work closely with senior members of the marketing team to identify potential opportunities for both acquisitions, market expansions and consolidating our current positions. I have also been fortunate to work directly with the CFO and CEO on presentations to the shareholders and creditors. This has given me a unique insight into the B2B market and our future plans to tackle the issues emerging – all in the course of my first year! The great thing about working for Emap is the openness of the management to hearing your ideas and their lending of expertise, whether in a team meeting, a brain storming session or even the pub! I feel I am constantly learning about this dynamic business.

Working for brands you truly believe in, with people you aspire to be like, is what makes Emap such a fantastic company to be a part of.

Why I loveworking at Emap

LucyMosley -MarketingManager,WGSN

Graduated from NZBS & Canterbury University in 2004

When I first moved to London from New Zealand I worked as the Marketing and Communications Manager for V2 Asset Management in Mayfair. But with a background in broadcasting, I was searching for something more creative. So two and a half years ago, I was delighted to be offered a job at Emap. I started out as the Assistant Brand Manager for Emap Inform’s built environment publications and I instantly fell in love with the vibrant and challenging world that is Emap. Recently I received a promotion to Marketing Manager for WGSN (the world’s leading creative intelligence service for the apparel, style and retail industries) and I absolutely love it. I am surrounded by industry experts who are creative, intelligent and extremely focused. Working for brands you truly believe in, with people you aspire to be like, is what makes Emap such a fantastic company to be a part of.
