Josh & Joshua interviews with Fresno Scene Magazine

Fresno Scene Magazine had an opportunity to go “Behind the Scenes” with Green River Ordinance. Lead vocals Josh Jenkins and Guitarist Joshua Wilkerson’s were gracious enough to sit down with us prior to permorming “live” at Elements Restaurant, Fresno. Josh and Joshua greeted us with a pleasant smile and a thick Texas accent. They explained that they had just performed in Modesto the day before and that this was their first visit to Fresno. The next day they would perform in Los Angeles, finish- ing up a 6 week tour.

With a very laid back and down to earth demeanor, the guys gave us a background of how their band started 10 years ago. Singer - Josh Jenkins’ father was a country singer and songwrit- er. He grew up listening to old country music, such as: George Jones, and Hank Williams. If you listen close enough, you will hear a bit of country influence within a few of their songs. In ad- dition to vocals, Josh also plays guitar and piano.

Joshua grew up listening to 90’s rock. His father also played in bands, touring with The Beach Boys, Cheap Trick, The Guess Who and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Brothers Jamey and Geoff Ice were raised by music-loving parents who followed The Grateful Dead. Their father has his own country-western band, and encouraged his boys to play blues and classic rock at an early age.

With all the music in their lives, all these boys needed was a common denominator that would bring them together. Song writing, it seems, was that catalyst. Their music is based on valued life experiences and transcends all age groups. They have a dynamic energy that transfers into their sound and their synergy is reflected in every note.

Initially, the band was formed by Jamey and Geoff who were seasoned club performers at the ages of 16 and 14. At that time, they already had a local following. When Josh joined the band they discovered the bond they had in writing songs. When Joshua and Denton joined the band, the song writing was taken to a new level. All members of the band take part of the song writing process, which helps craft their music into a unique compilation of majestic sound-ergy. They’re making their own rules, taking their place in time, and making their mark on the world.

In addition to their music, these Texas boys are passionate about world charities. Their website www.hopegros.com is dedi- cated to 5 charities, chosen by each member of the band.
