Stop Talking Money! Get Moving, & Get Healthy!
After watching some of the Biggest
Loser last night, I feel the need to re-print this article I did nearly a year ago. The episode last night, which was really inspiring, reminded me why I became a Personal Trainer. I became a Certified Personal Trainer after I lost over 100 pounds myself!
week, spend $100/month on vitamins and supplements they do not need, drive fancy cars, eat-out 5 nights per week, or have very expensive hobbies like horses or boating or even golf.

so passionate about helping people lose weight and battle Obesity! I am in the business of helping people better themselves! I am in the business of helping people Feel, Look, and Move Better through life. What I do as a Personal Trainer is help my clients get back on track and give healthy direction with healthy lifestyle tools. What I do gives people more self-confidence and higher self- esteem! As a Personal Trainer for nearly 14 years now I help people feel better about themselves and am grateful for being able to do what I love everyday! Remember though, I am only able to help people who want to help themselves. I cannot help people change and lose weight if they themselves are not serious about changing and losing weight! Our lives hinge on our health!
Each week I have someone interested in getting into shape call me with questions. Many times the first and most important question to them is:

I think most of the time this question is really a stall tactic. I think that most everyone who calls me already knows what plans I offer, how much each cost, but most importantly they know they really need to get started. Listen, most people who call me know deep down inside that they are really in need of changing their lives to healthier living! I know I am not the Personal Trainer for everyone, but I feel the need to break down this seemingly important question for you to explain the stall tactics or Excuse. I think most Certified Personal Trainers and other Health Professionals have heard this one way too many times!

I have different rates to help offer budget friendly plans to help just about anybody who is ready to and wants to help themselves. My rates are on most of my websites anyway and many people have already said they have read about me on my sites, so the pricing usually is one of the first places people go first. I offer one-on-one ½ hour and 1 hour workouts, small group training, Bootcamp Fitness (
VirginiaBootcamp.com) large group Corporate training, online training, my member’s only fitness resource site, and a few more options. I almost always make it work for the people who want to make it work. You can start changing your life for a little $ per month!
Many times the same people, who say the price is too high for one of the plans, are just making an excuse. These usually are the same people who have a $50-$100 bar tab on the weekends, drink $5 coffee’s each morning on the way to work, buy very expensive clothing, get 2 massage’s each
It is always amazing to me how many people feel so bad (I did at 305 lbs) when they are FAT and OBESE and have low self confidence, yet many do not see the need to invest in their health and cut out some junk in their life which is dragging them down.
As far as offering Specials, Deals, or Discounts well I do. Anybody training with me one-on- one can have another person join them without adding to the price. So that immediately cuts the rate in half for anyone and it makes the sessions a lot of fun when you bring a friend or family member along with you. It becomes great support for the two of you. I usually do not have too many time slots available so I can only run a limited amount of promotions and specials. But let’s look more closely at the idea of a discount on something to save your health.
Why should we look for a discount on something so lifesaving and life extending as a healthy lifestyle change? You do not drive- up to a fast food restaurant speaker and say can you discount that artery clogging burger, fries, and soda even more! No most of us will just drive right up and buy without hesitation something our bodies do not need. Many of you will get up early and go to a sale at a department store and add debt to your credit card on clothes you really do not need, but when it comes to your health you hesitate to spend a nickel.
Now this is not about me or my business
this is about your priorities in your life. Too often most of us will be tight with a dollar to go to the Doctor, Dentist, Gym, or Personal Trainer, but not with a night on the town or junk food or a hobby. Statistically speaking over 300,000 people per year die in the USA from Obesity related illnesses because they were not putting their health first. Their priorities were not right and they probably put buying junk food, expensive cars/trucks, toys, fancy restaurants, expensive hobbies, pricey lattes, nice clothes, and purses ahead of their healthy lifestyle change.
What most need to do is stop talking money and get moving! Take action for yourself and buy that gym membership, Personal Training session, Bootcamp Fitness session, updated Physical with your Family Doctor, your teeth check-up with your Dentist, etc. Invest in you and your health right now! It is always cheaper to help prevent health problems than to fix them after they have gotten out of control!
