ANTA ANA – The OC Human Relations is set to award 12 awardees as the most outstanding schools, community members and community- policing projects from across Orange County at its Human Relations Awards 39 Gala Celebration on May 6 at the Grove of Anaheim. ING Foundation is hosting this year’s event.

The award coincides with the 39th anniversary of the nonprofit OC Human Relations which pays tribute to the outstanding community leaders “who dedicate them- selves to promoting the richness of Orange County’s diversity.”

Awardees for Community-Policing cat- egory are the Santa Ana Police Department for its Police Athletic and Activity League which has encouraged “at risk” youths to “steer clear of gang involvements and the Orange County Sheriff Department’s San Juan Capistrano Gang Reduction and In- tervention Partnership “which has proven to be an effective tool against gang prolif- eration and in raising self-esteem of young people in the program.”

Three high schools share honors for dis- tinguished school awards for “exceptional contributions to promoting, nurturing, protecting and cultivating campuses that are safe, welcoming and equitable.” The
