Alvirne played three games this past week, going 1-2 to bring their season record to 4-5. On Thursday, April 29, Alvirne lost to Londonderry, 4-2. The Broncos could only manage three hits against Londonderry, with Peter Radziewicz belting a home run, Mitch

North on a nine-hit offensive effort. Terrill picked up the shutout victory, holding North to four hits and striking out seven batters. Brian Lessard had two hits on the day and three stolen bases for Alvirne. Colton Houle, Radziewicz, Terrill, Alex Russo, David Webster, Ethan Hurley, and David Coleman all had one hit apiece. Leading the RBI parade were Russo with three, and Terrill and Colton Houle with two each. This victory brought the Broncos back to .500 on the season. On Monday, May 3, the Broncos faced a tough Salem squad and lost in a no-hitter, 3-0. The Broncos’ Mike Falcone pitched a strong game for the Broncos, giving up just five hits and one earned run, as seven Bronco errors led to their demise. Alvirne will next face Manchester Central on Wednesday, May 12, at home.

Softball Hands Salem Their First Defeat

The Lady Broncos won two of their last three games to bring their record to 8-2 on the season. On Thursday, April 29, the Broncos took care of business as they defeated Londonderry, 8-1. Delaney Burns gave Alvirne an early 2- 0 lead with a double in the first inning, and finished Londonderry off with a five-run seventh, highlighted by a three-run home run by Jenna Giannelli. Burns finished with three hits on the night, while Nicole Abreu and Giannelli added two hits apiece. Mikayla Powlowsky, Taylor Carbone, Chelsey Drew, Katie Donovan, and Jess Underwood each had a hit for the Broncos. Carbone struck out 14 and allowed only one earned run, while giving up two
hits and one walk. On Friday, April 30, Nashua North got the best
of Alvirne, defeating them 3-2. Giannelli, Burns, Donovan, and Underwood provided the offense for the Broncos, and Carbone took the loss for the Broncos, but pitched well with nine strikeouts. On Monday, May 3, the Broncos took on perennial powerhouse and undefeated Salem, and handed them a convincing, 5-0 loss. Carbone pitched a five-hit shutout. Kaela Craven and Donovan had RBI singles for Alvirne, while Powlowsky had a pair of hits and scored a run. Alvirne will face Manchester Memorial on Monday, May 10, at home.
