Thousands visit Alice film house

A stately home featured in a Disney film

attracted a record number of visitors over the Easter weekend.

More than 5,000 people headed to Antony House near Torpoint, which features in the recent Alice in Wonderland film.

The 2,150 people visiting on Easter Sunday was a record for the property.

There was a 40-minute wait to get to the reception desk on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday and, with stocks running low in the tearooms and car parking at a premium, some visitors had to be turned away and directed to other National Trust properties.

As well as the popular Alice in Wonderland experience, which continues to run at the house, there was also an Easter egg trail at the property.

The record visitor numbers compare with figures from last year where the highest number of visitors in a week was just 1,500.
