Break Time

The summer Break Time is now available at City facilities and Chandler Fry’s Stores. It is also online at www.chandleraz.gov/breaktime. Registration for all classes and youth summer camps starts Saturday, May 8 (Friday, May 14 for non-residents).

Aquatics Schedule

As the summer heat approaches soon, Chandler Aquatics will be ready as the six pools will open on separate schedules. The full summer season operation schedule starts June 3. Mesquite Groves is currently open daily; Hamilton and West Chandler will be open on weekends noon-5 p.m. starting May 1. Desert Oasis and Arrowhead will open for weekends noon-5 p.m. on May 22 and Folley Pool will open for the season on June 3. Leaders In Training Forms Due May 3!

Each summer, Chandler’s Leaders In Training Program places teens ages 14-16 in a professional work environment with a variety of City departments and local business partners with a mentor who can provide job skill development and valuable work experience. The deadline for teens to participate is May 3. The application is available at www.chandleraz.gov/teens or any Chandler Recreation facility. For more information, call 480-782-2746.

Family Nights at TRC

Tumbleweed Recreation Center Family Nights continue in May and June every Wednesday from 5:30-7 p.m. Each week there is a different activity and theme for children and parents. Train Day at Tumbleweed Park!

Celebrate National Train Day on Saturday, May 8 at the Arizona Railway Museum, located at 330 E. Ryan Rd., in Tumbleweed Park. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors to the museum can tour

railcars currently under restoration that are not normally open to the public. Tour highlights include seeing the inside of a working caboose and going into the cab of a Baldwin diesel locomotive, where guests can blow the horn. Stop by the Tumbleweed Ranch as well for other historical activities. For more information, visit www.azrymuseum.org.

Therapeutic Recreation Fashion Show

The Chandler Therapeutic Recreation Division will partner with

The City of Tempe and Mesa to present the 11th annual “You Look Marvelous” Fashion Show on Saturday, May 15 at the Mesa Arts Center. Doors open at 1 p.m. for a raffle and desserts followed by the show at 3 p.m. Tickets are $17 and can be purchased in advance by calling 480-782-2709 or at the Mesa Arts Center box office. McCullough-Price House

Hosts Student Art Exhibit

The City’s historic McCullough-Price House will host an art exhibit created by Basha High School Students May 14-15 and May 17-21 (closed Sunday May 16) from 4-7 p.m. There is a reception with refreshments on opening night May 14. This free exhibition is sponsored by the Chandler Museum. The Price House is located at 300 S. Chandler Village Dr., southwest of Chandler Fashion Center. TRC Bubble Blast & Boogie

For parents with children 5 and under, Tumbleweed

Recreation Center offers “Bubble Blast” on Wednesday, May 12 from 9-11 a.m. “Bounce, Bikes & Boogie” will be held Wednesday, May 26 from 9-11 a.m. Both drop-in activities are $2 per child ($3 non-resident). Call 480-782-2900 or visit www.chandleraz.gov/tumbleweed.

“Come Out & Play” Show

The next episode of “Come Out & Play Chandler” will showcase all of the six aquatics centers and the upcoming youth summer camps with Chandler Recreation. The show will start airing Friday, May 7. You can also view all of the recent shows on YouTube by searching for Chandler Recreation.
