Chandler Symphony performs Mozart, Dvorak

The Chandler Symphony Orchestra presents a concert at 3 p.m. Sun., May 2 featuring Symphony concertmaster Joy Li Pan performing the “Violin Concerto No. 3” by Camille Saint-Saens. The orchestra will also perform “Titus Overture” by Wolfgang Mozart and “Symphony No. 9 from the New World” by Antonin Dvorak. Led by Music Director Jack Herriman of Chandler and Associate Conductor Alex Zheng, the concert is in the Desert Vista High School auditorium at 16440 S. 32nd St. at Frye Road in Ahwatukee.

At age 13, Pan won the national entrance competition for Shanghai Conservatory, one of the most prestigious music schools in China. She holds a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance from School of Music at Arizona State University and has appeared as a concert soloist with the Chandler Symphony and Musica Nova Orchestra. Currently, Pan teaches at her private violin studio in Chandler. Admission to the concert is free. Donations are accepted to help defray the Symphony’s operating costs. Publicist Frank Darmiento says the symphony “remains committed to reaching the community with quality orchestral music, regardless of the ability to purchase tickets.”
