Business

Business sponsors are needed to help fund travel for community members and City of Chandler staff to attend the All-America City Awards in Kansas City, MO.

Chandler will compete against 26 other communities throughout the country for the prestigious award and is the only Arizona finalist in the competition.

Chandler plans to send a delegation including people involved in each of the three projects submitted for the award, including ICAN’s underage drinking taskforce, the CARE Center and its work providing medical care to Chandler students and the Chandler Heights Community Facilities, which include a police substation, Environmental Education Center and water recharge facility.

To win, each community must demonstrate innovation, inclusiveness, civic engagement and cross-sector collaboration by describing successful efforts to address pressing local challenges. The delegates participate in a presentation to a panel of judges as part of the competition.

Ten All-America Cities will be announced on June 18 by the National Civic League.

Businesses interested in supporting the delegation should contact Dave Bigos at 480-782-2222 or dave.bigos@chandleraz.gov. For more information, visit www.chandleraz.gov/AllAmericaCity.

City seeks backers for awards trip AZ Give Camp needs sponsors

Sponsors are being sought for AZ Give Camp’s three-day event pairing Chandler tech professionals with Arizona nonprofit organizations needing tech help.

The event, the first of its kind in Arizona, is held May 21 through 23 at the Chandler Community Center in downtown Chandler.

Chandler-area professional software developers, designers and database administrators will donate three days’ worth of work to area nonprofit organizations at a value estimated up to $10,000. The work helps the nonprofits become more efficient, saving time and money that can be used instead to help the people they serve.

Sponsors are needed to help the volunteers through the three-day session, most of whom will be working almost entirely onsite. Help is needed with meals, snacks, software to use in website development, prizes for giveaways, T-shirts, name tags and goodie bag items.

The Chandler Community Center is located at 125 E. Commonwealth Ave. in downtown Chandler. To be a part of AZ Give Camp, visit www.azgivecamp.org or contact Joe Guadagno at 602-293-6767.
